About the role
The Medical Director of Clinical Services is the senior medical position within Metro North Mental Health (MNMH), providing strategic and executive clinical leadership across specialist mental health and alcohol and other drug services. The role holds overarching accountability for clinical governance, patient safety, quality, clinical risk management and clinical performance across a diverse portfolio of hospital-based, community, specialist and statewide services.
The successful candidate will provide authoritative clinical advice to the Executive Director and executive leadership team, lead senior clinical leaders across multiple services and sites, and oversee the implementation of effective governance and assurance systems that support safe, high-quality and evidence-based care. The role also provides executive leadership for major service redesign, innovation, accreditation, incident management and clinical improvement initiatives while fostering a culture of accountability, excellence and continuous improvement across Metro North Mental Health.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
Provide executive-level clinical leadership and accountability for clinical governance, patient safety, quality, risk management and clinical performance across Metro North Mental Health services.
Lead and support Clinical Directors and senior clinical leaders to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality mental health and alcohol and other drug services.
Provide authoritative advice on complex clinical, statutory, ethical, medico-legal and organisational matters while managing significant clinical incidents and risks.
Drive service-wide clinical strategy, innovation, service redesign and continuous improvement initiatives supported by robust governance and assurance frameworks.
Promote a culture of clinical excellence, leadership development, multidisciplinary collaboration, education, research and evidence-based practice across Metro North Mental Health.
