About the Role
Hospital Medical Officer (ENT / Ophthalmology)
Fixed Term Full Time position available for immediate commencement
The HMO will cover both the wards and Emergency Department on a rotational basis. Ward HMOs participate in daily ward rounds and work closely with the unit Registrars and Fellows. He/she is also responsible for ensuring discharge summaries and other documentation are completed allowing for timely discharge. Provision may also be made to attend ENT and Ophthalmology outpatient clinics. HMOs are rostered to work weekdays, evenings and weekends on the wards, in the Emergency Department and in clinics. HMOs are also rostered to night shifts primarily in the Emergency Department (supervised by accredited registrars).
PLEASE NOTE BEFORE APPLYING:
It is important that applicants have an interest in learning and developing skills in ophthalmology and ENT. Our HMOs spend extensive time on the wards and peri operative care, and many of our patients are elderly with medical comorbidities. Therefore, it is important to have a strong general medicine and acute medicine background. This previous experience is critical, coupled with a desire to learn ophthalmology and ENT.
Please address the above in your covering letter for your application to be considered.
HMO's Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the AMA Victoria Doctors-in-Training Agreement 2022-2026
