About the role
As a Medical Scientist within SA Pathology’s specialised Chemical Pathology Laboratories, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services that support patient care across South Australia. Working in a collaborative laboratory environment, you will perform a range of routine and complex testing procedures, process biological specimens, prepare reagents, maintain laboratory equipment, and contribute to the accurate and timely delivery of results.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career or developing scientist looking to build their expertise in a specialised field. You will be supported through ongoing training and participation in the Directorate trainee scientist program, while contributing to quality management activities, continuous improvement initiatives, and staff education. You are a motivated and detail-oriented scientist who is passionate about delivering high-quality laboratory services and contributing to positive patient outcomes. Qualified and technically capable – You hold a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science), or equivalent qualification, with demonstrated laboratory experience and sound scientific knowledge.
Skilled in laboratory operations – You have experience using analytical laboratory equipment, laboratory information systems and data processing tools, with the ability to perform diagnostic testing accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
Organised and proactive – You can effectively manage competing priorities, work with limited supervision, identify potential issues, and contribute practical solutions to support efficient laboratory operations.
Collaborative and professional – You possess excellent communication skills, work effectively as part of a team, provide high-quality customer service, and handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
