Science of Mathematics Education (SOME) Lab Academic Intern

Job No.:570436

  • Part-Time 60% (3 days per week), Fixed Term position up to 12 months
  • Campus Independent (can be located at Bundoora or any of our VIC regional campuses) or Sydney (NSW) location
  • Classification: Level A - Base salary from $84,205 + 17% superannuation

About the position

The Science of Mathematics Education (SOME) Lab aims to shape the educational policy landscape for mathematics education and ensure that Australian students experience high-quality mathematics instruction delivered by confident, highly proficient teachers, using evidence-based approaches to mathematics teaching. The SOME Lab is co-directed by Professor Anna Stokke (University of Winnipeg) and Associate Professor Chrissy Monteleone (La Trobe University).

The key function of this Level A Teaching and Research position will be to provide teaching, research, administrative and academic support to the SOME Lab Co-Directors.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, and evidence of participation in higher level study relevant to the discipline or professional area.
  • Preferably have a background in education, psychology, mathematics, or statistics.
  • Experience of successful undergraduate teaching and/or school classroom teaching / clinical experience.
  • A knowledge of contemporary issues and challenges in primary and secondary education, either from a teaching or a clinical perspective.
  • Strong mathematical content knowledge.
