Join our Perioperative Services Team

  • Work in our busy Perioperative department
  • Free parking onsite
  • Permanent full-time position - 76 hours per fortnight

The Opportunity

Our Perioperative Leadership Team are seeking a motivated individual to work in a dynamic and fulfilling role as a Theatre Orderly, within our busy perioperative Team. This role will be suitable to a person with some Orderly experience, especially in theatres. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating Operating Theatre set up including equipment and operating table prior to and in-between cases
  • Positioning and transfer of patients on the Operating Table
  • Cleaning of Operating Theatre in between cases
  • Transport of the patient between DSU/Theatre/PACU
  • Stocking and management of linen, fluids and other items needed for the Operating Theatres
  • Removal of Operating Department rubbish and used linen to the waste management area
  • Organising the ordering and retrieval of VMO meals for the day

Peninsula Private is a 65-bed acute and rehabilitation hospital with 6 operating theatres and a new high dependency unit to open in the near future, located on the idyllic Redcliffe Peninsula. Specialties include orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, gynaecology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, internal medicine and the delivery of leading rehabilitation services and programs on the Brisbane northside

About You

You will be a robust person with a sound understanding of the Healthcare environment, preferably in relation to the perioperative area or a willingness to develop this. You will have an excellent understanding of WH&S, be focused on providing an efficient and safe shift and be able to respond to daily operational changes with a calm and supportive disposition. Training will be given for those that do not have experience as a Theatre Orderly.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have great communication skills to cultivate a friendly environment for patients
  • Have sound knowledge in WH&S and physical ability to perform the role
  • Have some Orderly experience, preferably in busy theatres
  • Commit to our Safe Values
  • Have excellent time management
  • Be comfortable with competing priorities and flexible to change
  • Be a supportive and engaging team member to support all assigned work tasks
