Full job description

Adelaide Physicians & Surgeons is seeking two enthusiastic and professional Casual Medical Receptionists to join our specialist medical practice team.

These positions are available to provide reception coverage across our three Adelaide locations. The positions offer a combined total of approximately 45 hours per fortnight, with each employee expected to work approximately 22.5 hours per fortnight, subject to operational requirements. Successful applicants must be willing and able to travel between practice locations as required.

About the Role

As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and referring practitioners, providing exceptional customer service while supporting the efficient operation of our specialist consulting rooms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming and assisting patients in a courteous and professional manner
  • Managing appointments and specialist clinic schedules
  • Answering and directing telephone enquiries
  • Registering / entering details of patients and maintaining accurate medical records
  • Processing Medicare, EFTPOS, and private billing transactions
  • Liaising with specialists, hospitals, referring doctors, and allied health professionals
  • Managing correspondence, referrals, and general administrative duties
  • Supporting clinic operations across multiple practice locations

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in medical reception, healthcare administration, or a similar customer service role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Professional presentation and patient-focused approach
  • Reliable transport and willingness to work across all three Adelaide locations
  • Current Australian work rights are essential (Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or holder of a valid work visa).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience using Genie Medical Practice Software
  • Knowledge of Medicare, DVA, and private health fund billing procedures
  • Previous experience in a specialist medical practice environment

Employment Details

  • Position: Casual Medical Receptionist (2 Positions)
  • Classification: Level 1 or 2 – Health Support Services
  • Rate of Pay: $32.18 per hour (casual rate inclusive of casual loading)
  • Hours: Approximately 45 hours per fortnight combined (approximately 22.5 hours per fortnight per employee)
  • Location: Adelaide, South Australia (across three practice locations)
