• This role attracts a fixed allowance that ensures a minimum salary equivalent to AHA2 (third increment) pro-rated, based on the Undertaking as within the Allied Health Professionals, Assistants and Psychologists Enterprise Agreement 2025.

If you are looking for meaningful part-time work within a dedicated mental health team, this short-term contract opportunity with the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) Older Persons Mental Health Service at Modbury could be the right next step.

What You'll Be Contributing To

Working within the Modbury Mental Health Older Persons Unit, you will provide hands-on allied health assistance to a multidisciplinary team delivering specialist mental health care to older adults across Adelaide's northern metropolitan region. This is a part-time, short-term contract role through to 5 October 2027. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities

Assist Social Workers in implementing individual care plans and therapeutic programs.
Support consumers during individual and group activities that promote social engagement, independence and wellbeing.
Facilitate lifestyle, recreational and psychosocial group programs.
Assist consumers to access community services, appointments and social support programs under direction.
Observe and report changes in consumers' mental state, behaviour, mood and functional abilities to supervising clinicians.
Assist with discharge planning by gathering information and helping coordinate referrals and community supports.
Prepare resources and equipment required for therapeutic activities.
Document consumer participation and progress in accordance with organisational policies.
Maintain accurate clinical records and administrative documentation.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and communicate relevant information to the healthcare team.
Promote safe work practices, infection prevention and consumer dignity at all times.

What You'll Bring
A Certificate IV or III in Allied Health Assistance (or working towards completion) or equivalent relevant experience
An understanding of mental health principles and person-centred care approaches
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate sensitively with older adults and their families
The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team
Current SA Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening, or willingness to obtain
Demonstrated awareness of the specific needs and vulnerabilities of older persons in mental health settings

To be eligible for this position, you must have:
Certificate 3 in Allied Health Assistance, or Mental Health or equivalent
Certificate 4 in Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
