About the role:
The Policy and Program Officer in the Wellbeing Promotion Office and Gambling Harm Prevention Strategy works as part of a small team to promote good mental wellbeing in Victoria. Guided by the ten-year Wellbeing Strategy, the Policy and Program Officer will contribute to implement the Wellbeing Strategy through the Wellbeing Action Plan.
This role has a focus on program management, overseeing key wellbeing promotion initiatives, including Social Inclusion Action Groups. The role is also required to contribute to government business including Ministerial briefings, responding to correspondence, reporting and stakeholder engagement.

About you:
  • Contributes to the development of action plans related to relevant strategies and/policy frameworks within area of expertise or responsibility based on defined organisational priorities.
  • Contribute to the development and provision of advice and sound policy recommendations to senior management and government.
  • Contributes to strategic policy development within a specific field of expertise.
  • Prepares reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues that impact at program or organisational level
  • Draft and develop material including the preparation of Cabinet and Cabinet related material, Ministerial and Secretary briefings and meeting papers, agendas, minutes and reports.
Qualifications/Specialist Expertise:
  • A tertiary qualification in fields related to public health would be desirable.
  • Experience in equity‑focused policy and program development and understanding of how mental health and wellbeing systems operate in Victoria will be beneficial.
