Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide recovery-oriented peer support to individuals, families, carers and supporters, helping people navigate their recovery journey while ensuring lived experience is embedded in the care provided. You will work collaboratively with clinicians, counsellors and other Peer Practitioners to deliver person-centred support and promote positive outcomes.
In this role, you will:

Provide one-on-one peer support that draws on your lived experience to promote hope, recovery and wellbeing.
-
Build trusting relationships with clients, families, carers and supporters.
-
Advocate for lived experience perspectives within a multidisciplinary team.
-
Collaborate with clinicians and community services to support coordinated, person-centred care.
-
Contribute to a recovery-oriented culture that values inclusion, empowerment and strengths-based practice.
Partners Toward Wellbeing (PTW) is a partnership between Mission Australia and Sonder, providing integrated support for people experiencing co-occurring alcohol and other drug and mental health challenges across metropolitan Adelaide.
The program brings together Peer Practitioners and clinicians to deliver evidence-based counselling, care coordination, peer support, education and outreach, with a strong focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, older people, families and adults aged 26 years and over.
Experience Requirements:
-
Personal lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery, and the ability to draw on this experience purposefully and safely in a professional context.
-
Demonstrated experience in working with the practice principles of peer work to use own lived experience, and experiential knowledge to share information, skills and strategies that support and promote therapeutic optimism with clients, families, carers and staff.
-
Demonstrated experience and expertise in the provision of peer support for people who have AOD dependence and the provision of psychosocial supports and non-crisis interventions to AOD clients and families/friends.
-
Has experienced AOD substance dependence as well as demonstrated successful management and maintenance over an extensive period of time.
-
Demonstrated experience working within a fast-paced environment.
-
