Career Medical Officer - Emergency Medicine - Armidale Rural Referral Hospital - Permanent full time or multiple part time opportunities
You will deliver, as part of a dedicated team of emergency specialists, excellence in clinical care every patient, every time. You will promote seamless continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient services. Lifestyle and variety is the key attraction for regional emergency medicine. Armidale Hospital is a ninety nine bed facility providing a comprehensive range of services including acute medical and surgical services, obstetrics, paediatrics and a range of diagnostic and allied health services. A busy emergency department, a Level 3 Close Observation Unit, mental health unit and renal dialysis unit. The referral community of the area is 55,200. Adult Medical services include respiratory, cardiac, chemotherapy, renal and palliative care. Surgical services include general, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology and ophthalmology. The hospital is a spacious, modern and well-equipped with the most recent development opening in 2019.
Armidale is set high on the picturesque Northern Tablelands and is known for its beautiful tree lined streets and magnificent autumn colours and has a distinctive seasonal climate. Armidale is located midway between Sydney and Brisbane on the New England Highway with an abundance of transport options between the major cities. The region offers diversity in outdoor activities such as bushwalking in the nearby World Heritage listed National Parks offering spectacular gorges and waterfalls in Australia. Armidale is an educational centre featuring a university, as well as public and private schools, and a regional conservatorium each providing a level of education comparable to any capital city in Australia.
- Qualified medical practitioner holding General Registration or eligible for General registration in Australia with at least three years post-graduate experience and appropriate training and experience
- Appropriate training and experience to work towards a leadership role in the ED, which will include being in charge of night shifts, whilst working with direct support from Consultant FACEMS staff on other shifts
- High level skills and involvement in clinical care, supervision, mentoring and teaching. Able to exercise a moderate degree of professional independence.
- Demonstrated skills in and commitment to improvements in clinical care, patient safety and risk management processes, including the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams to achieve change.
- High level interpersonal communication and team skills
- Effective communication skills for working within health care organisations and the outside community, including capacity to use electronic communications (e.g. electronic records) effectively.
- Evidence of participation in continuing professional development
- Demonstrated commitment to the broader service objectives of the public health system, including the effective utilisation of resources, and participation in activities beyond direct patient care
