The Service is seeking multiple talented and committed Radiation Oncologists for temporary backfill 1.0 FTE until 1 August 2027 and 1.0 FTE - January 2027 to January 2028.

The Radiation Oncologists will work within the established framework of a networked and integrated cancer service. The Radiation Oncologists will have the opportunity to influence the future of Radiation Oncology services across ISLHD. Whilst it might incorporate district wide responsibilities, the position is based at the Illawarra Cancer Care Centre, Wollongong. A centre networked with other District facilities, providing essential cancer services for the growing South Coast population.

In this role you will provide high quality diagnostic, consultative, procedural and on-call specialty services in Radiation Oncology across a variety of tumours streams, and participate actively in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities commensurate with the Staff Specialists (State) Award. As a Staff Specialist you will ensure a high standard of professional performance and, where required, the encouragement of an academic environment which supports research and development.

Wollongong Hospital, located on Dharawal Country, is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services. Wollongong is located an hour’s drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west.
