About Ophthalmology Unit
The Ophthalmology Unit forms part of the Surgery, Anaesthesia & Procedural Medicine Division. The unit has approximately eight Consultant Surgeons and 1 Accredited Registrar on rotation from RVEEH. The position is at the Austin and Heidelberg Repatriation Hospitals. The unit is committed to the provision of high-quality patient care and maintains an ongoing commitment to Undergraduate and Post Graduate teaching. Also provided is a consultative service for other Units with Austin Health.
About the role
Austin Health is seeking a motivated and skilled Unaccredited Ophthalmology Registrar to join our dynamic and supportive Ophthalmology Unit as part of the Surgical, Anaesthesia & Procedural Medicine Division.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad experience in the assessment and management of a diverse ophthalmic caseload, including operative and non-operative care, while working across the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre.
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver high-quality ophthalmic care across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and surgical settings.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of consultants, registrars, nursing and allied health staff.
- Be involved in departmental teaching, clinical audits, and contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Fulfil on-call duties and participate in education and audit activities.
You will be part of a collaborative and collegiate unit committed to patient-centred care and clinical excellence. This role provides outstanding surgical exposure and educational opportunities within a tertiary teaching environment.
About You
Eligibility: Applicants must have General Registration with AHPRA (or be eligible), a minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience, and demonstrated experience in Ophthalmology.
