Experienced Oral Health Therapist | Mediq Broadmeadows

Mediq Broadmeadows is seeking an experienced and clinically confident Oral Health Therapist to join our growing dental team.

This role would suit an OHT who is comfortable managing their own appointment book, making sound clinical decisions and delivering high-quality preventive, periodontal and restorative care within their individual scope of practice.

You will work with both adults and children across a varied patient base, with the autonomy to manage your patients from assessment through to treatment, maintenance and follow-up, while having access to dentist support whenever consultation or referral is required.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for more than someone who can simply fill an appointment book.

We want a capable clinician who takes ownership of their patients, communicates well, builds trust and contributes to the ongoing growth of our dental service.

Your work may include:

• Comprehensive oral health assessment and treatment planning
• Preventive and periodontal care
• Scaling, debridement and ongoing periodontal maintenance
• Restorative dental therapy within your qualifications and scope
• Preventive and restorative treatment for children
• Fissure sealants and caries prevention
• Oral hygiene education and behaviour change support
• Dental radiography within your scope
• Management of anxious or nervous patients
• Ongoing recalls, maintenance and follow-up care

You will be encouraged to develop strong long-term relationships with your patients rather than simply providing one-off treatment.

ABOUT YOU

You are organised, clinically capable and comfortable working with a high level of independence.

You know when to manage a case yourself and when collaboration, consultation or referral is appropriate.

You will ideally bring:

• Current Ahpra registration as an Oral Health Therapist
• Strong experience across dental hygiene and oral health therapy
• Confidence managing your own appointments and clinical workload
• Experience treating both adults and children
• Strong periodontal assessment and instrumentation skills
• Confidence with ultrasonic scalers, hand instruments and dental handpieces
• Sound restorative skills within your individual scope of practice
• Experience taking and interpreting dental radiographs within your scope
• Strong treatment planning and clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent patient communication and education skills
• High standards of infection control, documentation and informed consent
• Appropriate professional indemnity insurance

HIGHLY VALUED SKILLS

The following are not essential but would be highly regarded:

• Qualifications and experience in adult restorative treatment
• Experience using EMS AIRFLOW or similar air-polishing systems
• Experience with Guided Biofilm Therapy
• Familiarity with intraoral cameras
• Digital radiography experience
• Experience with intraoral scanning and digital dentistry workflows
• Experience using Dental4Web or similar dental software
• Ability to speak Arabic to support our Arabic-speaking patient community
