Bridge to Understanding is growing, and we are looking for caring, reliable and motivated Disability Support Workers to join our team.

We are open to casual employees, part-time employees and suitably qualified independent subcontractors, allowing us to find arrangements that work for both our participants and the people supporting them.

About the Role

Our Support Workers work directly with children, teenagers and adults with a range of disabilities and individual support needs.

This is not about simply filling a shift. We want our Support Workers to understand the person they are supporting, what they are working towards and how everyday support can help build greater independence, confidence and quality of life.

Your work may include:

• Community access and participation
• Supporting participants with everyday activities and routines
• Building independence and daily living skills
• Supporting social and communication skills
• Supporting emotional regulation
• Practising strategies recommended by the participant's therapy or behaviour support team
• Supporting participants to work towards their individual and NDIS goals
• Attending appointments, activities and community outings
• Providing support within the participant's home and community
• Completing progress notes following sessions
• Communicating with families and the participant's wider support team

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for people who are reliable, patient, proactive and genuinely enjoy supporting others.

Experience within disability, mental health, youth work, education, early childhood or community services is highly regarded.

Most importantly, we want people who take the time to build relationships and understand the individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Requirements

Depending on the role and participant, applicants will need:

• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Working with Vulnerable People registration
• National Police Check
• First Aid and CPR
• Current driver's licence
• Reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module
• Ability to complete clear and professional progress notes

Subcontractor Opportunities

We also welcome applications from independent Support Workers and established support providers interested in subcontracting with BTU.

Subcontractors will need to meet relevant NDIS and BTU compliance requirements and maintain the appropriate registrations, checks, insurance and business documentation required for the services they provide.

Subcontracting may suit experienced Support Workers who already operate independently but would like the opportunity to work with BTU participants and collaborate with our broader team.

Hours

Hours will vary depending on participant needs and availability.

We are particularly interested in applicants with availability before and after school, during weekdays and/or on weekends, as well as people who can provide consistent ongoing support to participants.
