Full job description
Location: Rockingham
Work Type: Casual
Salary: $40.18 per hour + superannuation, depending on qualifications, experience and demonstrated skills. (Equivalent to $79,400 per annum for a full-time 38h week)
We are seeking a reliable and engaging Peer Support Mentor to provide fortnightly one-to-one support to a young person with additional support needs.
The role is focused on peer support, mentoring, social connection and developing confidence and independence. The successful person will be someone who can build a genuine rapport, communicate well and provide positive, age-appropriate encouragement.
Shift Times
- Afternoon: 3:00 pm – 5pm
You will provide approximately 2 hours of support every fortnight, from 3:00pm–5:00pm. The day is flexible and can be arranged around your availability, provided it is Monday–Thursday and the same day each fortnight (for consistency).
Support may include:
- Building rapport and a positive mentoring relationship
- Supporting social interaction and communication
- Encouraging confidence and independence
- Supporting participation in age-appropriate activities
- Developing practical life and community skills
- Providing positive encouragement and role modelling
- Supporting the participant to work towards her individual goals
We are looking for someone who is:
- Warm, patient and genuinely enjoys working with young people
- Reliable and consistent
- A good communicator who can build rapport naturally
- Encouraging, respectful and non-judgemental
- Comfortable providing one-to-one mentoring and peer support
- Able to commit to an ongoing fortnightly arrangement
- Available between 3:00pm and 5:00pm on a weekday other than Friday
Essential:
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check
- Police Clearance
- Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle
This is a small but meaningful ongoing role, ideal for someone looking to build a consistent mentoring relationship with a young person while working around other employment or study commitments.
