Full job description
Summary:
As a Buyer in the retail industry, you will play a crucial role in sourcing and purchasing products that meet our customers' needs while ensuring optimal inventory levels. Your expertise will contribute to the overall success of our business by driving sales and enhancing customer satisfaction. This permanent, full-time position is based in Australia and requires a proactive individual with a keen eye for market trends and supplier relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and products that align with customer preferences.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to secure the best possible terms.
- Monitor inventory levels and sales trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to develop product assortments that meet market demands.
- Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong relationships to ensure quality and reliability.
- Prepare and present purchasing reports to management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitor activities to inform buying strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a buying or procurement role within the retail sector.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills to effectively manage supplier relationships.
- Proficient in data analysis and inventory management software.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing market conditions.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
