Job Description

BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We’re leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We’re proud of brands, like COLORBOND ® steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

The Opportunity

Our Commercial & Procurement team is looking for a IT Procurement Specialist in our Finance IT team based in Port Kembla NSW, Sydney NSW, or Mount Waverley VIC, with flexible working arrangements available. This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity to step into a key role while a team member takes on an internal secondment.

The role of the IT Procurement Specialist is to deliver cost savings and value delivery through innovative procurement, vendor management and strategic sourcing practices. Reporting to the IT Commercial Manager, you will proactively manage IT vendors to improve their performance and deliver value to operations by identifying future sourcing trends, improvement opportunities and ensuring our vendors are assisting with innovating our operations.

In this key role, you will work closely with the IT Commercial team, key internal stakeholders, our outsourced service partners, and Procurement teams. You'll be responsible for the management of supplier relationships and contracts, liaising with IT Managers and IT Project Managers to ensure commercial contracts are delivering the required services.

What Will You Do?

This opportunity will see you collaborate with internal customers to support strategies, operational plans and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll also:

  • assist and lead tenders and sourcing projects to deliver optimal sourcing outcomes by analysing the robustness of proposals, validating assumptions and providing recommendations to direct manager and/or IT Lead Team
  • lead vendor management to drive vendor performance
  • drive contract performance through building strategic partnerships with vendors to improve productivity, improve processes and enhance efficiencies
  • lead contract negotiations and implement contracts for allocated mid-tier vendors

More About You

With knowledge of procurement, strategic sourcing, and specifically embedding IT solutions across a broad range of projects, you will:

  • be a clear and influential communicator who is collaborative and adaptable with the ability to build swift trust and meaningful relationships across the business
  • hold a tertiary qualification and demonstrate the capability to work independently, take initiative, and lead change that delivers meaningful results
  • have demonstrated experience in sourcing, managing vendor relationships, and developing contracts within ICT and professional services environments
  • bring proficient experience using SAP and/or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
