Job Description


We are seeking a highly organised and motivated Research Support Officer (RSO) to join our Group Research Operations Team within the Griffith Business School.

Working under broad direction, the Research Support Officer (RSO) is responsible for providing high level operational support across a diverse range of research, administrative, event, and communication activities that contribute to the effective functioning of the Group’s research operations.

This position formally reports to the Research Support Manager, and sits in the Dean Research operations team, however, the as position operates as a shared resource, the RSO may be allocated to support research activities at a Group, School/Department or Research Entity level.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake operational, administrative and project work, including admin support to the Dean Research, committees and working groups, and other project activities.
  • Coordination of events, workshops and communication activities to support research & external engagement, profile and impact, including development of web, intranet and promotional content, draft communication content for social media as required.
  • Administer small grant programs, including application coordination, assessment support and reporting.
  • Provide support across HR functions and finance including processing payments, invoicing, small budgets, and routine correspondence related to projects.
  • Preparation and/or analysis of data and reports to track research performance outputs (e.g. publications and income) and monitor research profile platforms (Symplectic Elements/Griffith Experts) to support visibility and external engagement.
  • Promote the School and Research Entities' strategic programs.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated high level of organisational and multitasking abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong team player.
  • Understanding of university systems relating to finance, HR, communications, and event management is highly desirable.

What we can offer
This is a full-time continuing position based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan), with an expectation to relocate to the Brisbane City precinct (South Bank, CBD, or a combination of both) from 2027. As a multi-site university, Griffith may also require work across other locations as needed.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 6 range $94,966 - $101,295 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $111,110 - $118,515 per annum.
