Restaurant Manager – Ace Hot Pot

About us

Ace Hot Pot is a busy Chinese-style hot pot restaurant located on Albany Highway in East Victoria Park. We specialise in authentic Malatang and Maocai dishes, offering a wide selection of fresh ingredients, premium meats, seafood and traditional Chinese soup bases to a loyal customer base of local residents, families, office workers and international students.

We are known for our vibrant dining environment, fresh and carefully selected ingredients, and genuinely warm customer care. As the business grows and we refine our systems for future expansion, we are seeking a hands‑on leader who can support our next stage of growth and help take the restaurant to the next level.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced full-time Restaurant Manager to oversee daily operations of our 70-seat restaurant and growing takeaway/online delivery business. This hands-on role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to grow with an expanding hospitality business.

  • Manage daily front-of-house and overall restaurant operations to ensure smooth service for dine‑in, takeaway and online delivery customers.
  • Lead, supervise and train a small team including service staff and kitchen support, including rostering, on‑shift supervision and performance feedback.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service, handle customer enquiries and feedback, and resolve any service issues in a professional manner.
  • Oversee reservation and seating management to optimise table turnover and customer flow in a 70‑seat dining area.
  • Work with the Head Chef and owners to review menu performance, assist with menu planning, pricing of menu items and periodic specials in line with budget and customer demand.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock levels and assist with basic financial reporting related to sales, costs and labour.
  • Assist with monitoring sales performance, labour costs and other key operating costs in line with business targets and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety and company policies at all times.
  • Support marketing and promotional activities, including online delivery platforms, social media campaigns and in‑store promotions.
  • Contribute to future development projects such as dedicated takeaway collection areas, premium menu offerings and Chinese specialty beer program.

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience in a Restaurant Manager / Café Manager or similar supervisory role within a busy restaurant or hospitality business.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to train, motivate and support a diverse team.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle peak periods in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Good understanding of restaurant operations including rostering, stock control, ordering, basic cost management and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make decisions on the spot during service.
  • Sound computer skills and confidence using POS systems and online delivery platforms (e.g. Uber Eats).
  • Understanding of Asian / Chinese cuisine and service culture will be highly regarded but is not essential.
  • Ability to work a flexible hospitality roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
