Full job description
With over 1.3 million members RAC is one of WA’s most iconic and trusted brands. We are a purpose-led member organisation striving to create greater value for our members and deliver on our purpose to be “The driving force for a better WA.”
Are you a seasoned risk and compliance professional looking to make a meaningful impact? Join RAC as our Partner – Risk & Compliance Oversight, where you’ll champion effective risk management and ensure robust compliance across RAC Insurance. In this pivotal role, you will provide independent oversight, specialised advice, and strategic leadership to support senior management and enhance our risk-aware culture.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Insurance Chief Risk Officer, as the Partner for Risk & Compliance Oversight, you’ll collaborate with senior leaders to monitor RAC Insurance’s risk profile, support decision-making with critical insights, and help to enable compliance across complex regulatory requirements. Your role will include driving continuous improvement in risk practices, delivering strategic oversight, and leading second line assurance reviews in areas like cyber, privacy, supplier risk, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and enhance the RAC Insurance risk and compliance oversight strategy, with a focus on further strengthening our proactive risk culture.
- Conduct second line assurance reviews and drive improvements across all risk areas.
- Oversee and challenge RAC Insurance’s risk profile, ensuring alignment with risk appetites and tolerances.
- Provide SME advice to senior management and deliver timely, insightful reports on risk and compliance performance.
- Build and sustain professional relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulators (e.g., ASIC, APRA).
- Lead, coach, and mentor team members to foster growth and alignment with organisational goals.
What You’ll Bring:
- Extensive experience in risk or compliance roles within financial services or regulated industries, ideally insurance.
- In-depth understanding of APRA standards, the Insurance Contracts Act, and the General Insurance Code of Conduct.
- Strong analytical capabilities, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly to diverse audiences.
- Tertiary qualifications in risk management, insurance, or a related field (industry memberships a plus).
What can we offer you?
- A workplace culture where our people feel valued, respected, and empowered.
- Work in flexible ways that meet work/life commitments and support wellbeing.
- Be part of a purpose-led organisation that gives back to the WA community.
- An environment that values ongoing career development.
- Free Roadside Assistance and discounts on RAC products and services including Insurance, Holiday Parks and Resorts, Security, Finance and Auto Services.
- Opportunities for community engagement and corporate volunteering.
