Join the Shire of Ashburton as an experienced Road Maintenance Officer – Grader Operator and play a key role in maintaining vital road infrastructure across the iconic Pilbara region.

About the Position
Reporting to the Roads Coordinator, you will support the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of road maintenance activities across the Shire. This position is offered on a 10 days on, 4 days off roster working 10.5 hour days and operates as a DIDO role from Tom Price to a rural camp accommodation on a 9-night consecutive swing, with generous allowances for each swing.

This role also includes around 20 hours of regular overtime paid at 150% for the first two hours and 200% thereafter.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Operating and maintaining grader plant to a high standard
  • Undertaking road construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation works
  • Conducting inspections such as pre-starts and identifying and addressing any defects
  • Assist with basic plant servicing and upkeep
  • Complete all required documentation and reports
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, teamwork and high-quality service delivery
  • Ensuring compliance with WHS, legislation, and Shire policies
  • Travelling from Tom Price to various worksite locations across the Shire of Ashburton

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • HR Licence essential (MC highly regarded)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with road maintenance and machine operations specifically Grader
  • Experience with minor maintenance of plant equipment
  • Sound understanding of safety, environment and compliance requirements
  • White Card
  • Pro-active, solutions-focused approach and ability to work autonomously
