About the role

Join the Anatomical Pathology team as a Technical Officer and play an important role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services that support patient care. You'll assist with the preparation and processing of histological specimens, including embedding, sectioning and staining tissue samples, while carrying out routine maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

Working across the Main Laboratory, Cut Up Laboratory, Immunocytochemistry Laboratory and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Mortuary, you'll enjoy a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll collaborate with pathologists, scientific, technical and administrative staff, while also liaising with external healthcare professionals, coronial services, funeral directors and other agencies to help provide a professional, compassionate and high-quality Anatomical Pathology and Mortuary service.

About You

You are a motivated technical professional with a keen eye for detail who enjoys working in a collaborative laboratory environment and delivering high-quality outcomes.

  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a relevant technical discipline
  • Experience in histopathology, including tissue processing and sectioning
  • Knowledge of histological techniques with strong manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently
