Who We Are:

Dunwich State School is located within the department's Metropolitan South Region on an island approximately 30kms off the East Coast of Brisbane. Minjerribah / Terrangerri (North Stradbroke Island) is home to around 2156 residents.

Dunwich State School is the only school on Minjerribah / Terrangerri (North Stradbroke Island).

The school caters for students and their families from the three major towns of Point Lookout, Amity Point and Dunwich itself, as well as those living in smaller communities in bush areas outside the townships.

Each town has its own subculture which influences the diversity of the school culture and learning. Point Lookout is tailored to the tourism industry while Amity Point is fishing with Dunwich being business and First Nations based. Children and their families living outside of the townships are also diverse and may have additional and distinct needs.

There are three First Nations clans that comprise the people of Quandamooka. They are Nughi of Moorgumpin (Moreton Island), the Nunukul and Gorenpul of Minjerribah.

Minjerribah / Terrangerri (North Stradbroke Is) is a unique marine and island environment The community has a strong First Nations culture and history.

Many local families have a long association with the school, with fifth and sixth generations now enrolled. Today, the school caters for students from Prep to Year 6.

About the Role:

Manage school and stakeholder relationships in relation to system planning and service delivery processes.
Develop strategies to identify regional and local initiatives including undertaking targeted activities and place-based approaches through collaborating with schools and stakeholders.
Develop and maintain working relationships within the department as well as the, other regional, state, commonwealth and local stakeholders, including government officers, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, tertiary providers and other local organisations.
Prepare and provide timely information and advice to stakeholders in relation to future planning for the delivery of services in line with government policy.
Undertake case management and project-based work to support innovations and integrated service delivery in collaboration with other relevant regional staff.
Identify responsive planning and coordination strategies and activities to build capability and enhance performance to optimise outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and their families.
Be committed to delivering strong educational and wellbeing outcomes for Dunwich State School students.
Demonstrate strong cultural competency and understanding for working with First Nations students and communities.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of institutional discrimination and anti-racism
Celebrate the strong cultural aspects within the school community
Demonstrate personal drive to maintain personal and staff cultural capability.
