Senior Business Analyst

  • 509874
  • Australia Wide, Australia
  • Full-Time (Permanent)

Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. We’re on a mission to make flying better than ‘nice’. And to do that, it takes a team of talented people who are passionate about customer experience, doing the right thing always, with a focus on safety – in the air, on the ground and in our workplaces. A team who values real diversity and inclusion, in a big brand with big ambitions.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Senior Business Analyst you’ll play a key role in supporting large scale transformation and technology initiatives that improve the way Virgin Australia operates. Working closely with operational teams, technology delivery teams and external partners, you’ll help define future state capabilities, uncover business needs, optimise processes and shape practical solutions that deliver real value.

You’ll contribute to transformational programs across key airline operations areas including operational control, airports, crew, disruption management, operational recovery and enterprise operational systems. This is an opportunity to help drive smarter, more efficient and resilient operations across the business.

You’ll be great in this role if you:

  • Bring extensive experience as a Business Analyst supporting large-scale transformation programs, enterprise technology initiatives or complex operational environments.
  • Thrive when partnering with senior stakeholders, facilitating workshops and translating complex business challenges into practical, value-driven solutions.
  • Have a strong track record of documenting business processes, defining requirements and supporting successful delivery outcomes across the full project lifecycle.
  • Are confident working across Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery environments and can adapt your approach to meet the needs of diverse teams and programs.
  • Gave strong experience in using Atlassian tools – Jira and Confluence
  • Excel at building relationships, influencing outcomes and collaborating across business, technology and delivery teams.
  • Enjoy analysing data, identifying opportunities for improvement and providing clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Can simplify complex operational and technical concepts for a wide range of audiences, from frontline teams through to senior leaders.
  • Bring exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
  • Take pride in producing high-quality artefacts, including process maps, business cases, user stories, functional requirements and testing documentation.
  • Have experience in airline, aviation, transport, logistics or other operationally complex industries, with aviation experience particularly highly regarded.
  • Hold tertiary qualifications in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline, with Business Analysis certifications viewed favourably.
  • Are passionate about driving continuous improvement and helping organisations deliver meaningful transformation outcomes.

We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry – including (but not limited to):

  • Discounted flights for you and your loved ones (including $1000 worth of travel credits per year)
  • A flexible, hybrid work style. Work from home or the office, adapt your location to suit your style and needs
  • One of Brisbane’s most admired head office locations, with South Bank train station, a supermarket, pharmacy, and lunch options downstairs plus a 5-minute walk to the Busway, a rooftop restaurant and onsite gym (with a low membership fee) and South Bank Parklands just across the road
  • Discounts on travel insurance, lounge membership, car hire, accommodation, and experiences worldwide
  • Cheaper hospitality, retail, technology, beauty and wellness services
  • Free counselling and access to a wellbeing app to support your physical, mental, social and financial health
  • ‘Dress for Your Day’ – enjoy the freedom to wear whatever makes you feel great for the type of work you do and the day you have ahead of you.
