About the role:

The Data Warehouse developer is located within the Centre for Victorian Data Linkage (CVDL), Victoria's specialist data linkage agency. CVDL acquires and links together 40 plus administrative and clinical datasets for policy development and research purposes.

The role designs, develops, and supports data linkage and analytics data warehouse and ETL processes. This includes technical design, development, implementation and maintenance of large and complex SQL databases and data transformation. The role involves extraction of administrative and clinical datasets from various sources and automating extraction where possible. In addition, the Data Warehouse Developer will assist in the implementation of PowerBI reports and documentation.

About you:

Can you demonstrate the following?

• Provide technical design, development, implementation of large and complex SQL databases to support data linkage and integration processes and advanced analytics.
• Utilise Microsoft Azure data products (e.g. Data Factory) to build end-to-end ETL processes from a variety of data sources.
• Provide expert input to projects to improve the quality and effectiveness of data linkage and integration processes and access to and usability of the de-identified linked data resource.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders including data administrators, data analysts and policy and program staff.
• Communicate complex technical information and concepts to a range of stakeholders including non-technical audiences.
• Develop and maintain relevant technical specifications and documentation to facilitate usage of the integrated data resource.

Qualifications / Specialist Expertise

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Information Technology would be desirable.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
• Experience in agile methodologies is desirable

Specialist Expertise

• Demonstrated experience in:
  • Microsoft SQL Server RDBMS.
  • Delivery of large scale, information management, information governance and analytics solutions.
• Experience with some of the Microsoft Azure data products including:
  • Azure SQL
  • Data Factory
• Minimum 2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server stack (SSAS, SSRS, SSIS).
• Minimum 2 years of experience with T-SQL skills including creating stored procedures, views, and indexes as well as performance tuning queries.
• Experience in data modelling and the understanding of data structures (relational tables, normalised etc).
• Performance tuning of resources for efficient and fast running processes.
• Experience using Azure DevOps release pipelines.
• Experience in unit testing their work and achieving this primarily with automation.
• Experience in preparing documentations such as, Data Models, Release Documents, Data Dictionaries etc.
• Exposure to Databricks platforms considered a strong advantage.
