Full job description

Home Carers provide person-centred support to clients living at home across both the NDIS and the Aged Care (Support at Home) programs. They assist with daily living, community access, and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment while upholding dignity, choice, and independence. Workers complete a shift completion note after each service.

· Key Responsibilities

· Provide personal care (e.g., showering, grooming, toileting, continence support) within scope of training and care plans.

· Support mobility and safe manual handling (including use of hoists and transfer aids where trained).

· Prepare simple, nutritious meals and support with feeding where required.

· Assist with domestic tasks related to care (light housekeeping, linen changes, cleaning of care areas).

· Community access and social support, including transport using own vehicle where rostered and authorised.

· Provide companionship, monitoring, and wellbeing check-ins; escalate concerns promptly.

· Follow client care plans, infection prevention and control practices, and safeguarding requirements.

· Document services delivered and complete a shift completion note after every service.

· Identify and report hazards, incidents, or changes in client condition immediately to coordination staff.

Conditions & Allowances

· Employment type: Casual – shifts offered based on client needs.

· Inter‑shift travel: Paid at the base hourly rate when travelling between client homes as rostered.

· PPE allowance: Provided for eligible tasks in line with policy.

· Kilometre reimbursement: May apply where approved for client transport or work-related travel.

· Support, supervision and escalation available from the coordination team.

Wages & Classification

· Base pay classification: Disability Support Worker – Level 2 (base rate applies for standard disability support shifts).

· Higher duties: When rostered to perform higher‑level duties, higher rates apply for those shifts. Example (Aged Care): complex personal care such as full assistance showering, hoist transfers, pressure area care, dementia behaviour support, or end‑of‑life support when within scope and delegated – these attract higher pay in line with classification and policy.

· Lower duties will not reduce pay: If a shift includes some lower‑complexity tasks (e.g., companionship, light domestic assistance), your pay for that shift will not be reduced below the rate already applied.

Mandatory Requirements

· Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing/Disability/Home & Community) or higher (e.g., Cert IV, Diploma).

· NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDIS Check) – maintained and current.

· Valid First Aid and CPR certifications maintained current (e.g., HLTAID011 & HLTAID009 or successor units).

· Current seasonal influenza vaccination for Aged Care work (and other vaccinations as per policy and client requirements).

· Unrestricted Australian work rights.

· Own reliable vehicle, current driver licence, and smartphone for app‑based rostering and documentation.

· Ability to pass reference checks.

Desirable Skills & Experience

· Experience in disability support, aged care, or community care.

· Knowledge of person‑centred practice, dignity of risk, and professional boundaries.

· Sound communication, documentation, and time‑management skills.

· Confidence with infection prevention and control, food safety, and basic nutrition.

Personal Qualities

· Compassionate, respectful, and client‑focused.

· Reliable, punctual, and professional.

· Able to work independently and as part of a team.

· Culturally aware and inclusive.

Work Environment

· Community‑based – services delivered in client homes and the community.

· Flexible hours including weekdays, weekends, and public holidays as rostered.

· Independent work with regular communication to coordination team.

Pay: From $34.44 per hour

Work Location: In person
