Does a competitive salary package with company stock, five wellness days per year, a flexible benefits package of $1,000 per year and a fantastic team culture spark your interest?
Meet AlayaCare
We're a fast-growing SaaS scale-up on a mission to transform aged and disability care across Australia, Canada, the US and beyond. Our platform helps care providers deliver exceptional service in homes, communities, and residential settings.
We're big on Tech with Purpose and passionate about improving lives while building strong software, strong teams, and better outcomes for customers.
The role
We're looking for a Developer who is ready to solve real customer and product problems through high-quality software engineering, close collaboration across Product and Engineering, and practical use of AI-assisted workflows.
In this role, you'll work with your team to scope work, understand goals and requirements, explore effective solutions, and contribute to the design and implementation of product changes that are reliable, maintainable, and safe to operate in production.
You'll spend most of your time hands-on, building and improving software, while also contributing to broader technical initiatives, product quality, and the team's engineering effectiveness. At AlayaCare, we expect developers to use AI in a practical, responsible way to improve delivery effectiveness, reduce repetitive work, and surface better options faster, while keeping humans clearly accountable for correctness, quality, and outcomes.
AlayaCare Cloud is written in Python on the back end, uses Vue.js on the front end, and runs on AWS.
Your days will involve:
- Designing, building, testing, and debugging software to a high standard as a key member of a feature development team.
- Spending the majority of your time in hands-on software development, with approximately 70% of your working time focused on implementation and delivery.
- Breaking work into well-scoped tasks and contributing to implementation plans that balance speed, quality, maintainability, and production safety.
- Participating in code reviews that improve technical quality and reinforce good practices in reuse, extensibility, maintainability, scalability, and safe change management.
- Monitoring applications in production and proactively identifying and resolving issues affecting customers.
- Contributing to the implementation of the product-wide technical roadmap and supporting cross-team technical initiatives.
- Collaborating with Product Owners and teammates to clarify requirements, surface gaps, and refine solutions.
- Planning, implementing, and executing automated tests to help ensure reliable, high-quality outcomes.
- Building security, performance, observability, and operational readiness into your day-to-day work.
- Using approved AI tools to accelerate investigation, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and review support, while validating outputs carefully before changes are merged.
You'll thrive in this role if you:
- Bring 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, with exposure to Python or modern JavaScript and the related unit testing frameworks.
- Have experience with Git, CI/CD tools, and Docker.
- Are comfortable working in an AI-assisted engineering environment and know how to use AI to find effective ways to solve problems and improve delivery effectiveness without over-relying on it.
- Can break work into smaller tasks, use AI to support implementation, testing, debugging, and investigation, and then review results carefully for correctness, quality, and maintainability.
- Understand that AI output must be validated, especially when working in production systems, business-critical workflows, or areas with security and data sensitivity.
- Stay aware of current industry trends in technology, performance, and software development practices.
- Are a strong communicator who can engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Have a background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field through professional training, a technical programme, or equivalent study.
We believe great work should be rewarded. Here's how we show our appreciation:
Choose your own 2 days/week in office, 3 days WFH
Competitive salary + company stock (RSUs)
5 Wellness days per year
$1,000/year flexible benefits package
Company-paid parental leave
2 days company-paid volunteer leave to support causes you care about
Team lunches, events & wellness activities
A genuinely open, inclusive, and collaborative culture
A chance to do purposeful work in the fast-paced tech sector, whilst making real impact in the care space.
Belonging matters
