Studio Manager
Job details
Full job description
The Practice
ASPECT Studios is a purpose-oriented landscape architecture and urban design practice. With operations across Australia, Asia, UK and the Middle East, our studios believe in the power of regenerative design to shape communities and rebuild natural environments.
Sydney Studio
Our team believes in the importance or creating a studio environment where an openness to new ideas and collaboration sits in partnership with deep knowledge and expertise. The Sydney studio is located in the heart of Redfern, is easily accessible by public transport and is surrounded by parks and open spaces. The open-plan studio is a beautiful space to work.
The Role
The Studio Manager works closely with Studio Directors to ensure the studio operates efficiently, delivers high-quality proposals, and supports a strong team environment. In this role you will have broad and diverse areas of accountability.
This is a leadership role that combines strategic oversight with practical delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Lead the preparation of our studio client strategy, submissions and tenders, including risk assessment, fee setting, and strategy development, to secure work aligned with business priorities.
-
Manage HR activities for the studio, including recruitment, performance reviews, and team development, while maintaining a positive and professional workplace.
-
Support Studio Directors in managing team and project resourcing, monitoring workloads, and ensuring the right mix of skills across projects.
-
Lead the studio support team.
You will also contribute to the One Studio approach, sharing knowledge and supporting operational improvements across the practice.
About You
You’re outcome-focused, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement. Skilled in marketing, bids, and tender management, you deliver high-quality proposals under pressure. Confident in leading people and managing studio processes, you balance priorities across marketing, resourcing, and operations. Detail-oriented and practical, you thrive in fast-paced environments, managing deadlines and multiple workstreams to achieve consistent results.
You’ll be:
-
Experienced in delivering end-to-end marketing plans, bids, tenders, and submissions.
-
A confident leader with experience managing HR processes and team development.
-
Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
-
Skilled in preparing and formatting proposals, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with InDesign.
-
Collaborative and adaptable, building strong relationships across teams and with clients.
Although prior practice or Studio Management experience in design or architecture will be highly regarded, we welcome candidates from a wide range of backgrounds within professional services organisations (e.g., engineering, construction, consultancy, or law).
ASPECT Benefits
Our workplace culture is extremely supportive, creative and driven, so you can rest assured that your colleagues will have your back and will help you to succeed in the role. We embrace diversity, foster professional development, and will provide you with the tools and environment you need to thrive.
Some of the benefits you'll enjoy as an ASPECT team member include:
-
Ability to purchase an additional two weeks of leave via our Purchased Leave initiative,
-
Access to generous paid parental leave benefits after 6 months,
-
MAPS Days – four paid days per year to explore your passion project, and up to two days for paid volunteering at an organisation of your choice,
