About the Organisation
Almost half of Australian adults will experience a mental health illness at some point in their life. You can make a meaningful difference to the Australian community by joining the Life Without Barriers team. Our mental health teams provide client-led, recovery-orientated mental health support, creating positive change in such a vital industry.
Life Without Barriers is a leading social purpose organisation of 8,000 employees working in more than 500 communities across Australia. We support children, young people and families, people with disability, older people, and people with mental illness. We work with people who are homeless and refugees and asylum seekers. Join a community of people dedicated to breaking down barriers.
We want to employ people who reflect the diversity of our clients to ensure we can support each client's individual needs and wants. We encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people with disability to apply.
About the role

You will support participants to build capacity, strengthen community connections and work towards their individual recovery goals. Working collaboratively with participants, families, carers and external stakeholders, you will develop support plans, facilitate community participation, promote wellbeing, advocate for access to services and maintain accurate documentation. You will join a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering person-led, strengths-based support that makes a genuine difference in people's lives.

- Support participants to strengthen daily living skills, independence and community engagement.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and external service networks.
- Maintain accurate case notes, reports and participant records.
- Apply recovery-oriented practice and strengths-based approaches.
- Assist participants to navigate support systems, including mental health and community services.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and a commitment to inclusive practice.
Essential requirements
- Certificate IV in Mental Health or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
- Experience in psychosocial recovery practice, or the ability to demonstrate transferable skills and capability.
- Current Driver Licence.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain as required.
- Demonstrated ability to work with people experiencing complex mental health challenges.
- Strong communication, relationship-building and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage documentation, case notes and reporting requirements.
- Understanding of recovery-oriented practice and person-led support approaches.
Benefits
- Opportunity to support people on their mental health recovery journey through meaningful community-based work.
- Mix of individual support and group facilitation work, providing variety and opportunities to build strong participant relationships.
- Part-time position offering 30.4 hours per week.
- Classification under the SCHADS Award Level 4.1.
