- Location: Multiple Western Health Sites (Bacchus Marsh, Footscray, Sunshine and Williamstown Hospitals)
- Employment Type: Fixed Term (until February 2028), Full Time
- Salary: HM11-HM16 + Superannuation + Salary Packaging
About the role:
Western Health are seeking applications from experience medical practitioners for Hospital Medical Officer positions as part of our mid-year intake for 2026.
Opportunities are available for 6, 12 and/or 18-month appointments depending on successful candidate preferences. Rotations available between August 2026 to February 2027 will be limited to gaps within our training streams (GP & Community, Medical and Surgical streams).
Please note, applications to these positions are for 2026 commencement, if seeking an appointment commencing February 2027, please refer to our 2027 opportunities.
Western Health offers a supported training environment where Senior Medical Staff make an effort to know you personally. Junior doctors are also supported by dedicated Directors of Clinical Training and Medical Education Officers.
Key responsibilities:
- Work under the supervision and support of the registrar or consultant to further develop general clinical and decision-making skills
- Assume responsibility for patient care in accordance with the care model of the ward/unit, ensuring that clinical procedures are performed in accordance with Western Health policy and procedure
- Ensure quality patient care via clinical assessment, admissions and development of management plans
- Participate in on-going assessment of competencies via a mid and end of term unit assessment
About you:
- Hold or be eligible for medical registration with AHPRA
- Have completed a minimum of 2 years full time medical employment post Primary Medical Degree (MBBS), and
- Have worked full-time in a hospital based medical role for at least 3 months in the past 6 months.
