What you'll be doing
The purpose of the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) is to provide medical care and support, as part of a multi-disciplinary team that is consistent with the level of clinical training, skills and experience of the appointee.

This is a rotational position and the RMO may be assigned to different clinical specialties during the year where they will participate in assessment and management of patients under the supervision of senior practitioners whilst developing their knowledge and skills in clinical decision making and practice.

This position includes rotations to the below listed hospitals:

  • Blacktown Hospital
  • Mt Druitt Hospital
  • Bathurst Base Hospital

  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Must have completed 1 year post-graduate training including a minimum of 12 months experience in an Australian hospital or equivalent (not as an observer).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment,
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team
  • Demonstrated outstanding organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  • Ability to recognise the acutely unwell patient, to initiate immediate management, appropriately escalate care and institute Basic Life Support and Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • Completion of ALS or commitment to complete these within 6 months of appointment.
