Lead a team that keeps our community clean, safe and sustainable.

Sutherland Shire Council is seeking an experienced and people-focused leader to join our Recycling and Waste Services team as Coordinator Waste Operations.

Reporting to the Waste Operations Manager, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of waste operations, managing people, plant, equipment and logistics to ensure safe, efficient and reliable services for our community.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and developing a high-performing operational team.
  • Managing daily transport, logistics and resource allocation.
  • Driving a strong culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Monitoring performance, budgets and service delivery outcomes.
  • Building productive relationships with staff, contractors and key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring waste services are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

About you

You are a visible and engaging leader with experience managing frontline operational teams in a fast-paced environment. You bring strong safety knowledge, excellent communication skills and a passion for achieving results through people.

You'll also have:

  • Qualifications in Logistics, Business, Project Management or equivalent operational experience.
  • Construction White Card.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence.
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check clearance for paid employment
  • Strong experience in operational leadership, transport, logistics or service delivery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WHS, HVNL and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving, stakeholder management and budget management skills.

  • Package: $111,776 - $124,574 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation. Plus an award vehicle allowance of $10,780 gross p.a will be paid.
  • Hours of work: Working 38 hours per week on a 9 day fortnight.

Suitable candidates are subject to pre-employment screening which includes Reference Checks, Work Rights Verification, Identity and Functional/Medical History Checks, and will also include a Criminal History, Qualification and Working with Children Check.
