This is a physically active and hands-on position. It is not primarily a supervisory or office-based role. The employee will personally clean guest rooms, prepare rooms for arrival, maintain public areas and complete basic repairs and preventative maintenance around the property.
Approximately 80–90% of the role will focus on housekeeping, property presentation, basic maintenance and repairs. Approximately 10–20% of the role will involve guest relations and, after appropriate training, assisting with guest check-ins and front-office duties.
Primary Duties

- Assist with laundry, linen sorting and linen storage.
- Maintain housekeeping trolleys, equipment and storage areas.
- Report lost property and follow the property’s lost-property procedures.
- Identify and report room damage or maintenance issues.
- Ensure rooms are clean, safe, fully functional and ready for sale.
This is a hands-on position, and the employee must be prepared to clean rooms every day as part of their normal duties.
Repairs and Maintenance — Approximately 20–30%
The employee will personally complete basic, non-licensed maintenance tasks, including:
- Conducting routine room and property inspections.
- Replacing light bulbs, batteries and small fittings.
- Completing minor painting and wall touch-ups.
- Repairing or adjusting curtains, blinds and curtain tracks.

- Cleaning car parks, walkways, pool areas and external common areas.
- Maintaining a record of identified faults and completed work.
- Reporting electrical, plumbing, fire-safety or structural issues requiring a licensed contractor.
- Meeting and assisting external tradespeople when required.
- Supporting preventative maintenance and asset-care programs.
The employee must not undertake electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, fire-safety or other work that legally requires an Australian trade licence.
Guest Relations and Front Office — Approximately 10–20%
After completing appropriate workplace training, the employee may progressively assist with:
- Welcoming guests on arrival.
- Providing basic information about the property and local area.
- Responding politely to guest enquiries and requests.

- Learning the property management system.
- Processing simple guest payments under supervision.
- Supporting after-hours or self-check-in procedures.
- Escalating complaints, payment issues or complex enquiries to management.
Guest-services duties will be introduced gradually after the employee demonstrates consistent performance in housekeeping and property maintenance.
