About the role

In this role you will perform specialist diagnostic testing and clinical interpretation that underpins safe and timely solid organ and stem cell transplantation and complex transfusion support across Australia. Our service focuses on histocompatibility and immunogenetics, particularly the highly polymorphic human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system to help clinicians assess donor / recipient compatibility, quantify immunological risk, and guide patient management before and after transplantation.

Accountabilities:

Sample accessioning and preparation for testing
Diagnostic testing via molecular and / or serological methods
Analysis and interpretation of testing results
Chemical, reagent and equipment management
Participate in 24/7 on-call roster to support deceased donor testing

A minimum education level of Bachelor of Science (Hons) with a major in Immunology or Genetics
Higher qualifications in a related field an advantage
Previous experience in a pathology laboratory or similar regulated environment an advantage
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Understanding of quality systems
Willingness to enhance knowledge and to grow and develop in the field
