RCH is a cornerstone member of the Melbourne Children’s Campus, partnering with Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics and The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation.
RCH has cared for the children and young people of Victoria for more than 150 years since it was founded in 1870. A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas. The Hospital has more than 6,000 staff, a budget of $850M, 12 wards and 350 beds. Applications are now open for a fixed term Paediatric Surgical Registrar position in the Department of Paediatric Surgery.
This position can be involved in the care of a range of general paediatric surgical patients including surgical sub-specialities and neonatal surgical conditions. Working within one of the busiest paediatric surgical services in Australasia, this role offers excellent supervision by consultant and senior registrar staff with great exposure to a wide variety of surgical conditions.
The position will run from the 10th of August 2026 to the 22nd of November 2026 to cover maternity leave. It is most suitable for a registrar with some prior exposure to Paediatric Surgery. It is not suitable for an overseas candidate unless they currently hold medical registration in Australia.
