Our people are passionate about their communities and connected to their teams. They’re motivated by our genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion, and our clear, compelling plan for our global city: Sustainable Sydney 2030 – 2050 Continuing the Vision.
Be part of a purpose-led organisation with care at its core. You’ll make a difference by acting in the best interests of our communities and city. Be better together with collaborative and inclusive partnerships. Embrace possibilities and be open to new ideas and creating bold solutions.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Business Support Officer to join our Public Domain team. In this role, you will be a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing high‑quality professional support to ensure the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the team.
You will manage and triage incoming enquiries, prepare documentation, maintain accurate data and records, and provide administrative, financial, and systems support. Your contribution will support effective decision‑making, efficient workflows, and a positive customer experience.
The Public Domain team is responsible for assessing applications submitted by external parties to carry out works and overseeing construction activities on land owned or managed by the City of Sydney. This role is critical to supporting a diverse and fast‑paced team, enabling leadership and staff to deliver high‑quality, accurate, and customer‑focused services.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in administration, business support, coordination, or office management
- Sound knowledge and experience in financial processing, procurement, and contract administration
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines
- A patient, customer‑focused approach with strong problem‑solving capabilities
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- A proactive and solutions‑focused mindset, with the ability to improve systems and streamline processes
This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital support role within a team that delivers important outcomes for the city’s public spaces.
This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
The recommended applicant must complete a pre-employment health declaration and criminal history check.
Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 pm, Friday 5 June 2026.
For more information, contact Lisa Thomas Public Domain Manager on 02 9265 9557.
