If you’re looking for great work/life balance and a rewarding career supporting people with disability to live the lives they choose, then this is the job for you.
At Yooralla, you’ll have the opportunity to make a positive difference, supporting people at home in Shared Supported accommodation and Independent Living settings, and occasionally in the community, to acheive their goals
4 reasons to join our disability support team!
- Make meaningful connections and contribute to your local community. Enjoy rewarding (and at times fun) work where you can give back to the community and support people with disability to achieve their life goals; and maybe even to achieve something they may not otherwise have done without your support…how good would that feel for everyone involved?
- The ultimate work/life balance – you’ll have flexibility with when and where you work, to fit in around your family, study or other commitments. Imagine how satisfying it would be going home from work after really making a difference in someone’s life?
- You’ll have the support of other likeminded teammates and a large, established organisation and you’ll be part of something bigger, as we work together supporting our clients to achieve. We will give you all the support you need – including with safety, quality and compliance – because these are important to us, and they will need to be important to you too. You’ll undertake training and development, and there will be opportunities to develop your career, including support to undertake a professional qualification.
- We offer a competitive hourly salary. You might get paid more than you think, and you can pick up additional shifts when they suit you! Plus, you have the option of generous salary packaging benefits to increase your take home pay and reduce your taxable income.
There are actually more than 4 reasons to join us!
A day in the life of a Residential Accommodation Disability Support worker at Yooralla.
So what will you actually be doing as a Disability Support Worker (DSW) in Residential Accommodation? This rewarding role supports adults with disability one-on-one or in groups, in their homes and occasionally in the community. You will work closely with individuals to implement personalised plans that address their unique needs and goals. No one work day (or night) will be the same! You might support clients with:
-
working towards their goals
-
shopping, appointments and events
-
daily living and personal care needs, including assistance with meal preparation, personal hygiene and mobility, and
-
overnight care.
About You
We're looking for people who are passionate, have a great attitude and an eagerness to learn. You'll share Yooralla’s values and have:
- a positive approach, initiative and self-motivation
- willingness to be committed to empowering our clients to reach their goals, and to upholding quality and safeguards in your everyday work
- effective communication skills, and good English literacy to communicate well with our clients
- ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team
- willingness to support clients with personal care activities
- Australian Driver Licence
- the right to work in Australia, and
- The ability to get a First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate if you don’t already have one.
A Certificate IV in Disability, relevant work experience or an interest in community services would be great, if you already have any of these. If not, don’t worry as Yooralla provides excellent training and support, and can even support you to work and study. You may even find you have some transferable skills to bring to the role.
You will be subject to NDIS Worker Screening Check.
