The Role
The EEG Technician / Technical Officer Grade 2 is responsible for performing a broad range of neurophysiology investigations, including electroencephalograms (EEG), evoked potentials, and vestibular testing for patients of all ages. The role requires the ability to identify and rectify technical artefacts, recognise significant abnormalities, and provide provisional reports to support timely clinical management. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, patient-focused diagnostic services, coordinate inpatient neurophysiology testing with medical and nursing staff, and ensure all electrophysiological equipment is maintained and functioning optimally. Working within a busy hospital environment, the position demands strong organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, participation in an after-hours on-call roster, and a commitment to research, professional development, and the acquisition of new skills.
Where You'll be Working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
- Hold a graduate qualification related to Clinical Neurophysiology or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to record high quality electrophysiological investigations in a clinical environment, with variable levels of supervision, in a manner safe to themselves and their patients.
- Willingness to undertake in-service or other training to acquire new skills relevant to the position.
- Ability to work with computer-based equipment and common software packages..
- High levels of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with both clinical and non-clinical staff and the public.
- Ability to provide a written provisional report of investigations, including reliably recognising findings that are outside the range of normal.
