About the role

Be at the forefront of a major digital transformation at the Australian Red Cross as our Senior IT Project Manager. This is a high-impact role where you will lead the technical delivery of the Client Services and Billing System (FFS) program—driving a strategic shift to modernise billing and service delivery. The program will enable automation and improved data capture across service delivery, financial management, and reporting, supporting activity-based billing while strengthening financial controls, compliance, and revenue outcomes across key service lines.

Reporting to the Head of Application Delivery and Architecture, the Senior IT Project Manager Operates with autonomy, overseeing multiple streams within this high impact enterprise-wide project, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy, technology roadmaps, and compliance requirements.

The position provides strategic leadership in delivering the FFS project delivery, guiding teams and partners to achieve outcomes that support Red Cross’ humanitarian mission, while working closely with senior stakeholders—including the CIO, Program Manager, business leaders, vendors, and the EPMO—to influence priorities, manage interdependencies, and ensure successful execution of enterprise-wide initiatives.

About you

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication with demonstrated ability to manage both technical and business stakeholders and resources
• Substantial experience (Ideally 5+ years) in managing complex, high-value IT projects and programs, including end-to-end planning, development, and execution across multiple streams
• Demonstrated skills in developing and maintaining enterprise-level project management artefacts, including integrated schedules, governance plans, budgets, and executive reporting
• Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, customers and other service departments
• Extensive experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies, including Scrum practices such as backlog management, user story development, estimation, and prioritisation
• Proven proficiency in Jira/Confluence, MS Project and MS Office, including MS Visio
• Demonstrated ability to manage internal IT teams, overseas consultants, external vendors, and solution partners.

Qualifications/Licenses

Required:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications specifically a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline is essential along with relevant substantial experience.
• Project Management certifications (PMBOK, PRINCE2 or similar standards)

Desirable:

• Postgraduate qualification in Project Management, Business Administration, or Technology Management
• Agile Product Owner certification (PSPO1, etc.) and Agile Scrum Master certification (PSM1, CSM, etc.)
