The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) provides a range of government programs and services focused on improving community safety, victim services, regulatory services and crime prevention, and building strong collaboration across the justice system. Located in the Justice Services and Regulation (JSR) group, Tobacco Licensing Victoria has been established to deliver the Government's commitment to implement a tobacco regulation and business licensing scheme.
Following the passage of the Tobacco Amendment (Tobacco Retailer and Wholesaler Licensing Scheme) Act (Act) in November 2024, Victoria now has a tobacco business licensing scheme and regulator to strengthen tobacco regulation.
Reporting to the Manager, Intelligence and Reporting, the Intelligence Officer will support the collection and collation of information to develop intelligence holdings to support the tobacco licensing scheme and regulator.
The Opportunity
- Fixed term, full-time position until 30 June 2028, based in Melbourne.
- VPS Grade 3 role: $81,496 - $98,955 per year plus superannuation.
- Conduct intelligence analysis utilising a range of information systems, analytical software and intelligence sources to identify trends to support regulatory compliance operations and projects.
- Assist in the production of intelligence to support decision-makers.
- Manage information collection and handling within guidelines and relevant legislation and maintain intelligence databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Leverage relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
- Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure products and services are timely, accurate, relevant and actionable.
- Utilise knowledge of intelligence policy, functions and capability, including information systems and analytical software, to support TLV outcomes.
- Model a positive work culture that promotes the VPS values, is supportive of innovation, and respects diversity.
- Other duties as required.
