We are currently seeking people who have studied or are studying a Bachelor degree in a relevant Science discipline to work the harvest in our state-of-the-art technical laboratory located in Thebarton.
This role involves testing of grain commodities for the presence of genetically modified seeds and sample preparation for chemical residue testing.
Our laboratory plays a crucial role in upholding our high food and feed safety standards across our sites, ensuring accurate classification so we continue to meet end use customer requirements and maintain market access for local growers.
Most roles are available from October through to January, making them well suited to students seeking summer work aligned to their studies.

Skills required:
- Demonstrate experience with sample extraction for analytical chemistry purposes
- Experience with molecular biology techniques including DNA extraction and PCR analysis
- Excellent analytical and record keeping skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- intermediate competency in Microsoft Office products
Key responsibilities
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Sample preparation for including sample registration, grinding, weighing and extraction
- Assist with performing lateral flow strip testing, PCR, LCMS and GCMS equipment to generate data for processing, reviewing and reporting by the Reference Laboratory Manager
- Recording of experimental data and test results
- Maintaining daily logs and equipment records
- Maintaining stock and resources required in the chemical laboratory
