The Royal Women’s Hospital is one of Australia’s oldest and most distinguished tertiary hospitals dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of women and newborns, offering specialised services within maternity, neonatal and women’s health. About the department

The Women’s is a centre of excellence for perinatal care, research and education, with more than 7,000 births per year. The Maternity Service at the Women’s is structured to provide quality care to women and families across the pregnancy continuum. There are three main inpatient settings, which include the high risk antenatal ward (5 South), Birth Centre (BC), and Postnatal wards (4 East & 4 South).


About the role

As a Ward Clerk you will be responsible for the provision of customer service and administration services for the Women’s.

A regular day will see you:

    • Front of house customer service for patients and their support people, staff and visiting specialists;
    • Answering all incoming calls & queries; maintaining privacy and confidentiality
    • Clerical admission and discharge processes associated with patient movement

About you

You’ll bring with you:

  • Demonstrated understanding of customer focused service provision
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication
  • Ability to provide high quality service at all times
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Professional manner in interacting with all hospital personnel, patients and support people
  • Provide excellent customer service in dealing with patient enquiries and remain professional at all times
  • Abiding by the Public Sector Code of Conduct
