About the Role:
Icon Cancer Centre Warrnambool operates a public radiation therapy service for patients across South West Victoria and South East South Australia, with outreach clinics in Hamilton, Portland and Mount Gambier.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Receptionist to join our team. This patient facing role provides the first point of contact for our patients, carers, referrers and doctors, playing a key role in delivering an exceptional patient experience.

Reporting to the Administration Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality administrative services and outstanding customer service to patients, carers, external stakeholders and fellow team members.

This is an ongoing casual position with shifts available for the foreseeable future. Hours will vary based on operational requirements and your availability, typically averaging around one day per week. Additional shifts may become available during periods of peak demand, annual leave coverage and our outreach clinic needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcoming patients, collecting and entering personal details.
  • Scheduling appointments.
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries.
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Entering and processing patient billing and Banking.
  • Monitoring and assessing the administration care path of all patients.
  • Maintaining and managing patient information.
  • Possessing basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Possessing basic knowledge of Medicare and DVA claims.
  • Supporting Icon's WHS Officers and committees to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
  • Modelling and promoting Icon's vision and values.
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in a similar role within the Healthcare industry.
  • Experience with Medicare, DVA and Private Health.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate with clarity both verbally (face-to-face and telephone) and written.
  • Ability to use computer systems – competence required in Word and Excel.
  • Delivery of excellent client service (to internal and/or external clients).
  • Ability to work autonomously, or as part of a team.
