For over 40 years, our shared commitment to curing childhood cancer has united us. Together, we continue to accelerate the answers to make that possible.

To accomplish our vision, we’re seeking someone who lives our values: owning and delivering meaningful work, collaborating to drive impact, challenging the status quo to create a better future, and balancing logic with empathy. Let’s achieve more, together.

We are currently seeking a Research Assistant to join our Translational Cancer Nanomedicine Group. The research assistant role is an exciting opportunity to work within an interdisciplinary team within a research stream focused on the identification, development, validation and therapeutic development of nanotherapeutics for brain cancer. The candidate will be adaptable, flexible and have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. They will have a background in nanomedicine, ideally with experience in animal models of cancer. They will work with colleagues within the group to support their studies, as well as with external collaborators. The role involves contributions to data analysis and preparation of figures for publication. Experience in cancer cell biology is desirable.

To succeed you will have:

  • Minimum BSc (Hons) or equivalent in a relevant scientific or medical field
  • 1-2+ years relevant laboratory-based research
  • Experience with development and characterisation of nanoparticles
  • Experience with in vitro cell culture
  • Experience with PC2 and WHS standards and behaviour
  • Ability to design and conduct experiments independently and as a team member
  • High level technical and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • A high degree of professionalism and respect for others
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Commitment to ethical conduct of experiments involving humans, animals, and GMOs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of cancer cell biology

We will support you to be your best with benefits that include but are not limited to:

  • Working in a world-class, purpose-built facility, the only one in Australia dedicated to curing childhood cancer
  • Focus on employee wellbeing, including up to 5 gifted wellbeing days off (paid) per year
  • Access to Fitness Passport, with access to an extensive choice of fitness facilities across Sydney at discounted rates
  • Corporate discounts and discounts on education through UNSW

Join us to shape a future every child deserves and to find meaning in your own. Because together, we can cure every child of cancer. It’s not if, it’s when.
