- Multiple Opportunities - Temporary Full Time for 18 Months (with the potential for ongoing appointment)
- Primary Work Location: Menangle
- Technical Officer G1-3 - $75,728 to $116,969 commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience as outlined in the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award and the Technical Staff Merit Progression.
About the Role
As a Technical Officer, you will contribute to high‑quality diagnostic testing and research sample processing within a dynamic laboratory environment. You’ll perform molecular, serological, parasitological, or related laboratory analyses and experiments to support both routine diagnostic submissions and research project objectives.
Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary colleagues, you’ll help coordinate workflow, communicate results, and maintain laboratory performance standards. A key part of your role will be supporting Quality Assurance (QA) systems, including National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) ISO17025 and regulatory requirements, while contributing to a strong safety culture.
You’ll also play an active role in continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, staying current with scientific developments, and adapting to evolving procedures and priorities.
About You
As our ideal candidate, you will bring:
- Laboratory experience — Prior experience in an agricultural or biological sciences lab (or equivalent postgraduate study).
- Technical skills — Experience in molecular biology, serology, or parasitology diagnostics or research, with flexibility to work across disciplines.
- Emergency response readiness — Prior involvement in disease outbreak or emergency response work is highly regarded.
- Resilience and adaptability — Ability to manage evolving procedures, shifting caseloads, and tight deadlines.
- Teamwork and work ethic — A collaborative approach, strong work ethic, and commitment to client service.
- Quality and compliance — Ability to work to QA standards (NATA ISO1702, workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements, and organisational values.
Essential criteria:
- Qualifications in accordance with Part 2 (xvii) of the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award
