About the Role
As a Technical Officer, you will play a key role in supporting diagnostic and research activities through laboratory testing, sample processing, and scientific analysis. Working within a collaborative team environment, you will apply molecular laboratory techniques and emerging technologies to deliver high-quality outcomes for diagnostic submissions and research projects.
You will contribute to maintaining laboratory quality systems and accreditations, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance laboratory performance and service delivery. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced molecular technologies while contributing to important agricultural and biological science outcomes.
About You
As our ideal candidate, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in molecular laboratory techniques, including DNA extraction, PCR and/or RT-PCR.
- Experience working with DNA and RNA high-throughput sequencing technologies and/or bioinformatics tools.
- The ability to carry out bioassays or insect/mite maintenance for projects related to insecticide resistance
- The ability to work safely, independently and effectively within laboratory and field environments.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within required timeframes.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to contribute positively to team objectives and laboratory quality standards.
Essential criteria:
- Qualifications in accordance with Part 2(xvii) of the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award
