About the opportunity

The After Hours Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the after hours operations and support of the hospital, ensuring safe, timely, and appropriate patient flow across all services.

Working at the centre of the hospital operations, this role coordinates patient access, bed management, and workforce allocation to support high quality care delivery and positive patient experiences. The Coordinator is responsible for real‑time decision‑making to balance clinical demand with available resources, while maintaining patient safety as the highest priority.

  • Coordinate and optimise patient flow, including admissions, transfers and discharges, to support timely access for elective and emergency patients.

  • Provide real time oversight of bed capacity and demand, proactively identifying and escalating access pressures and risks.

  • Maintain oversight of workforce allocation across clinical areas to ensure safe, effective and efficient staffing.

  • Coordinate Emergency Response management

What you’ll bring

You’re resilient, compassionate and have a whole lot of heart. Most importantly, you are committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.

  • A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.

  • The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

  • Demonstrated Nursing &/or Midwifery leadership experience

  • Experience in patient flow, access and workforce management

  • Ability to act with foresight.

  • Leadership qualities with the ability to influence without authority; use judgement and discretion and the ability to make decisions and recommendations

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
