Did you know, 76% of LGBTQI+ workers experienced significant levels of stress and anxiety in the last year? Whatsmore, 52% of LGBTQI+ workers also experienced loneliness. Whilst promoting diversity and inclusion (D&I) is becoming more important for Australian employers aiming to create safer working environments for their employees, the key to successfully achieving these objectives lies in understanding the specific concerns and difficulties the LGBTQI+ community regularly face in the workplace.
Involving over 2,000 working age Australians, Indeed, in collaboration with YouGov, has carried out a comprehensive study into D&I issues within workplaces across the nation, revealing unique insights into the experiences of Australia’s LGBTQI+ workforce. The findings, which are presented in our latest report, Hear our voices: Improving the environment for Australia’s LGBTQI+ workforce, exposes some of the key issues and challenges currently faced by Australia’s LGBTQI+ community at work, including how employers can foster a working environment where LGBTQI+ employees feel a sense of inclusion and belonging everyday.
