Did you know that almost a quarter (24%)* of 50-64 year-olds in Australia say they feel the need to hide their age at work?

For the first time in history, there are five generations working side by side. Distinct generational characteristics influence their ways of working, leadership methods, values, feedback preferences and communication styles.

In collaboration with YouGov, Indeed has carried out one of the most comprehensive studies into diversity and inclusion issues within Australian workplaces. Based on this research, our whitepaper, Coming of Age: Breaking intergenerational barriers in Australian workplaces, digs into how age affects our experience as job seekers and employees.

Key findings from the report*:

  • Only 12% of people aged 50-64 have secured a job within as little as 1 to 3 months, compared to 32% of workers aged 18-24
  • People aged 35-49 are least likely to be out of work and looking for a job.
  • Younger employees are more likely to have experienced change and uncertainty at work during the pandemic.
  • Only 27% of 18-34-year-olds say they know where to find support in the workplace if needed.
