Role Overview

We are currently seeking experienced and compassionate Chefs to join our talent pool for placements at various aged care facilities. As a Chef, you will play a vital role in preparing nutritious, tasty, and culturally appropriate meals for elderly residents, adhering to dietary requirements and ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to planned menus and individual dietary needs (e.g., soft/pureed, diabetic, gluten-free, culturally specific)
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP), aged care standards, and facility policies
  • Collaborate with kitchen assistants, FSAs, and clinical teams to meet residents’ nutritional needs
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen and food storage areas
  • Order, receive, and stock food supplies efficiently and within budget guidelines
  • Adapt meals for allergies, swallowing difficulties, and specific dietary plans as guided by the facility’s clinical team or dietitians
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including temperature checks, cleaning logs, and menu changes
  • Engage respectfully with residents and respond to feedback about meals

Essential Criteria

  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience working as a chef or cook, preferably in an aged care or healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, dietary requirements, and infection control practices
  • Valid Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • Current Police Check (National or NDIS Screening Check)
  • Fully COVID-19 vaccinated (including boosters where applicable)
  • Excellent time management, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to resident wellbeing

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working with elderly or vulnerable populations
  • Understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards
  • Flexibility to work across different facilities and shifts (AM/PM/weekends)
