About the role

The role of Receptionist (Grade 1) Community Health is to provide an effective and efficient reception/administrative service across Barwon Health sites and contribute to the overall performance of Barwon Health to ensure high quality customer service. A focus of this role is ensuring that the administration functions support the patient journey core principles of access and patient centred care with a high standard of quality.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional front-of-house reception services, welcoming clients, visitors and the public and assisting with general enquiries.
  • Manage incoming telephone calls and enquiries, directing them to the appropriate staff or department in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Deliver accurate, clear and up-to-date information to clients and visitors, ensuring a responsive and customer-focused service.
  • Process and maintain patient correspondence, registrations and requests through accurate data entry and record management in IPMS and related systems.
  • Support service operations by participating in patient/staff rounding and AIDET practices, assisting with the Needle and Syringe Exchange Program, and handling cash receipting and banking in line with policy.

What we’re looking for

  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence and reliable transport.
  • Demonstrated experience in a busy reception or administrative role within a confidential environment.
  • Strong computer and keyboard skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, internet use and electronic information systems/databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a courteous approach and strong commitment to confidentiality and patient privacy.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work independently, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively in a high-pressure environment.
