About the role:
The Licensing and Regulation Division is the regulator for Firearms, Private Security and Weapons industries in the state of Victoria.
Working in Victoria Police Regulatory Services, Enquiry and Data Sharing, the Licensing and Regulation Division has three work groups (Firearms and Private Security Licensing, Firearm Dealer Transactions, and Firearms and Weapons Permits) whose main function is to assess and determine the suitability for granting of licenses or authorities under various legislations.

Your duties will include:
- The assessment, validation and investigation of new and renewal licence and permit applications in accordance with legislation, policy and standard operating procedures.
- Making sound determinations in relation to the above application types within identified processing timeframes.
- The provision of administration support, including preparation of correspondence, reviewing document submissions and court records.
- Providing a high level of customer service to internal and external customers by responding to inbound phone and email enquiries.
- Responsible for the accurate collection, input, collation and storage of licensing data on the Licensing & Registration System (LARS).
About You:
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- A demonstrated ability to accurately maintain computer and manual information systems, including the ability to accurately maintain and update records.
- Well-developed communication skills.
- The ability to problem solve and analyse a range of information from various sources.
- Excellent customer service skills
- The ability to work in a sensitive and confidential environment including the ability to deal with challenging information.
- Experience in a call centre or processing environment is highly desired but not required.
Further Information:
- One (1) x full-time, ongoing position, 2x full time fixed term positions to 30/06/2028 and 3x full time fixed term positions to 30/09/2028.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
